The Kokoda Games is a great opportunity for Scouts and Guides to participate in a hands on learning experience that promotes team work and goal setting.
The strong historical element will inspire young people to learn more about the Australian military campaign on the Kokoda Track.
The Kokoda Games are keeping in with the spirit of the Kokoda: mateship, endurance, courage and sacrifice.
The Games start at 9:00am (registration from 8:00am) and finish at 3:00pm. Teams will complete individual base challenges during this event.
Team Officials are required to attend at the Registration Marquee located in front of the Tamborine Mountain Scout Den upon arrival.
Youth Members and additional team supporters are welcome to commence their Team's marquee set-up etc.

All participants are required to bring a hat, small backpack, sunscreen, water bottle & snacks, and wear comfortable closed in shoes.
Groups / Units are encouraged to bring a marquee, chairs, blankets etc. as a base for their members.
Please note that all of Tamborine Mountain is on tank water; teams are to ensure sufficient water supplies for their members.
PLEASE NOTE: All participants MUST park in the bitumen car park at the Tamborine Mountain Sports Centre.

Limited parking is available for attendees with restricted mobility at Tamborine Mountain Scout Group.
Leaders are to ensure their entire team is in attendance at the Sports Centre before walking to the Kokoda Games site.

The Kokoda Challenge Association was established in 2005 by Kokoda Challenge chairman, Doug Henderson and his wife Anna.
Their goal was to raise awareness of the Kokoda Campaign of 1942 and use the Spirit of Kokoda to help young Australian's reach their full potential.
Teaming up with a handful of members from the Gold Coast Bushwalking Club,
the Kokoda Challenge Association set about planning and hosting the first Kokoda Challenge fundraising event which took place in the Gold Coast Hinterland in July 2005.
This event was the sole fundraiser for the first Kokoda Challenge Youth Program which trained and supported 12 young people to walk the Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea.
The Kokoda Challenge has since grown to attract more than 3000 participants each year and more than 10,000 spectators,
as well as expanding to other Kokoda Challenge events held in Brisbane and Melbourne. With each participant and spectator the story of Kokoda is shared.
The fundraising efforts of the people who participate each year are the main source of funding for the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program (KCYP),
which has also expanded each year and has helped 172 young people since inception.
The Kokoda Challenge Junior Games was concepted by Doug and Toni Lamb from Nerang Scout Group.
Gold Coast Region Scouts were invited to develop the activities and run the organisation of the games.
The inaugural Games were held in 2011 and it was run as a trial using only Scouting youth members to test the concepts on a practical scale.
This was a huge success for the Kokoda Challenge Association and the Scout Association.
In 2022, the Games were renamed as the Kokoda Games, and moved to their current location at Tamborine Mountain.
